Flags Lowered for Four Washington-Based Fallen Soldiers
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff to honor four U. S. Army soldiers who died in a helicopter crash on September 17, 2025. The fallen soldiers include Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, Sergeant Donavon Scott, and Sergeant Jadalyn Good, who were all on active duty at the time of the incident. This directive aligns with Governor Bob Ferguson’s order for flags at state agency facilities to be lowered in their memory.
Mayor Brown encourages residents to lower flags at their homes and businesses as a sign of respect. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset or the close of business. This initiative underscores the community's commitment to honoring military sacrifices and fostering a culture of remembrance. The helicopter crash highlights the risks faced by military personnel during active duty. Such gestures of respect serve to unite the community in honoring those who serve the nation.
