Flags Lowered for Four Washington-Based Fallen Soldiers
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to half-staff to honor four fallen soldiers from a helicopter crash on September 17, 2025. This action aligns with Governor Bob Ferguson’s directive for state and U. S. flags at state agency facilities. Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, Sergeant Donavon Scott, and Sergeant Jadalyn Good were killed while serving on active duty in the United States Army.
Mayor Brown encourages residents to lower flags at their homes and businesses to join in this recognition. Flags will remain at half-staff until the close of business or sunset, reflecting the community's solidarity in mourning. This tribute serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by military personnel. Such actions foster a deeper respect and appreciation for service members within the community. The city’s acknowledgment of these heroes highlights the ongoing impact of military service on local communities.
