Flags Lowered for Four Washington-Based Fallen Soldiers
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in honor of four soldiers who died in a helicopter crash. This action follows Governor Bob Ferguson’s directive for all state and U. S. flags at state agency facilities. The soldiers—Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, Sergeant Donavon Scott, and Sergeant Jadalyn Good—were killed in active duty on September 17, 2025.
Mayor Brown invites local residents and businesses to participate in this remembrance by lowering flags. Flags will remain at half-staff until the close of business or sunset, demonstrating the community's commitment to honoring those who serve. This recognition serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by military personnel. The City aims to foster unity and respect for the fallen through this gesture. Additionally, it highlights the importance of collective mourning in the wake of such tragedies.
