Spokane City Council Hosts A Community Food Drive

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane City Council has announced a food drive and fundraiser running from October 15 to December 15, aimed at supporting local programs Zilch and Bite2Go. Zilch focuses on immediate food distribution through small pantries, while Bite2Go provides essential weekend meals to K-12 students. Council Member Paul Dillon highlighted the initiative's role in fostering dignity and stability for families dealing with food insecurity. According to Bite2Go, 1 in 5 children in the region face hunger, impacting their ability to learn in school. Donations can be made at City Hall, where non-perishable items will be collected in designated drop boxes.

A secure QR code will also allow for confidential financial contributions. This food drive reflects the city's ongoing commitment to combating food insecurity and improving community health. Residents are encouraged to participate in this vital effort to ensure that no child in Spokane goes hungry.
