Gonzaga University partnered with the Spokane Police Department to host a weeklong Dialogue Policing training event designed to improve communication skills in law enforcement. The comprehensive 40-hour course, developed by the Columbus Police Department, equips officers to interact effectively with community members during large gatherings. Participants were introduced to the Dialogue Policing model, alongside a session featuring local activists and media representatives. The curriculum also focused on essential de-escalation techniques and science-informed crowd psychology. Officers engaged in practical training scenarios to enhance their skills and meet certification requirements at the week's end.

This program aims to bridge gaps between police and the community they serve, fostering collaboration and understanding. Multiple agencies from the Spokane area participated, highlighting the regional commitment to improved policing practices.
