Gonzaga University and the Spokane Police Department co-hosted a weeklong training event for Dialogue Policing, aimed at improving law enforcement's communication skills. The comprehensive program, developed by the Columbus Police Department, consisted of a 40-hour curriculum focused on de-escalation techniques and crowd psychology. Officers participated in discussions with community activists and media representatives to foster understanding and collaboration. Training scenarios allowed officers to practice their communication skills in realistic settings, ensuring they are well-prepared for large-scale gatherings. Multiple agencies from the Spokane area attended, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation in law enforcement.
