Spokane City Council Hosts A Community Food Drive

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane City Council will conduct a community food drive and fundraiser from October 15 to December 15 to support Zilch and Bite2Go programs. Zilch collects food for local pantries, while Bite2Go provides weekend meals to K-12 students, addressing significant food insecurity in the region. Council Member Paul Dillon noted that one in five children in the area struggles with hunger, which affects their school performance. Council Member Michael Cathcart urged residents to contribute by bringing non-perishable items to City Hall. Donations can be made at designated drop boxes throughout the building.

Financial contributions can also be made through a secure QR code directed to Bite2Go via 2nd Harvest. This initiative seeks to ensure no child goes hungry, promoting community health and student retention. For more details on the programs, residents are encouraged to visit the 2nd Harvest website.
