Spokane City Council Hosts A Community Food Drive

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Council and city employees will conduct a community food drive from October 15 to December 15 to support local initiatives Zilch and Bite2Go. Zilch collects and distributes food through small pantries, while Bite2Go supplies nutritious weekend meals for K-12 students in the Spokane public school system. Council Member Paul Dillon stressed the significance of this effort, noting that one in five children in the region suffers from hunger daily. He stated that addressing food insecurity is essential for children's educational success and community health. Community members can donate non-perishable food items and make monetary contributions via a secure QR code at City Hall.

Council Member Michael Cathcart encouraged residents to visit City Hall to contribute, emphasizing the importance of community involvement. This initiative not only aims to alleviate hunger but also promotes dignity and stability for families in need. The food drive reflects a broader commitment to ensure that no child in Spokane goes hungry.
