Flags Lowered for Four Washington-Based Fallen Soldiers
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to half-staff to honor four soldiers who died in a helicopter crash on September 17, 2025. The fallen service members are Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, Sergeant Donavon Scott, and Sergeant Jadalyn Good. Governor Bob Ferguson's directive also calls for state and U. S. flags at all state agency facilities to be lowered.
Mayor Brown encourages residents to participate in this recognition, urging them to lower flags at their homes and businesses. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset or the close of business, demonstrating the community's respect for those who served. This recognition not only honors the soldiers' sacrifices but also fosters a sense of solidarity among residents. The helicopter crash underscores the risks faced by military personnel in active duty. Such acts of remembrance are vital in maintaining the community's connection to its service members and their families.
