The Spokane City Council is launching a community food drive and fundraiser to support Zilch and Bite2Go from October 15 to December 15. Zilch provides food for immediate needs, while Bite2Go offers nutritious weekend meals to K-12 students. Council Member Paul Dillon expressed gratitude for efforts to tackle food insecurity, emphasizing its impact on dignity and long-term community health. In Spokane, one in five children faces hunger, making this initiative crucial for student retention and focus in school. Donations can be made at City Hall, where designated drop boxes are located on multiple floors.

Monetary donations can also be contributed through a secure QR code linked to Bite2Go at 2nd Harvest. Council Member Michael Cathcart urged residents to participate, even encouraging them to bring food items when visiting for city business. The drive seeks to ensure every child in the community has access to sufficient food.
