Flags Lowered for Four Washington-Based Fallen Soldiers
Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff to honor the memory of four soldiers killed in a helicopter crash on September 17, 2025. Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, Sergeant Donavon Scott, and Sergeant Jadalyn Good were serving on active duty in the United States Army at the time of the tragedy. In a show of community respect, the mayor encourages residents to lower flags at their homes and businesses. This directive aligns with Governor Bob Ferguson’s order for state and U. S.
flags at all state agency facilities to also be lowered. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset or the close of business, highlighting the city's commitment to honoring its service members. The mayor's action emphasizes the importance of recognizing sacrifices made by military personnel. Such gestures foster a sense of unity and remembrance within the community. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by those in active military service.
