Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff to honor four soldiers who died in a helicopter crash. This directive aligns with Governor Bob Ferguson’s order for state and U. S. flags at agency facilities. The soldiers, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Cully, Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Kraus, Sergeant Donavon Scott, and Sergeant Jadalyn Good, lost their lives on September 17, 2025, while serving on active duty in the U.

S. Army. Mayor Brown encourages community members to lower flags at their homes and businesses to recognize their service and sacrifice. Flags will remain at half-staff until the close of business or sunset, symbolizing the community's respect and remembrance. This action highlights the importance of honoring those who serve in the military.

Such gestures foster a sense of unity during times of loss. The community is invited to participate in this recognition of the fallen soldiers’ contributions.
