SPD launches alternative reporting option for sexual assault survivors

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has launched Seek Then Speak, a new reporting option for sexual assault survivors in Spokane, Washington. This resource, developed by EVAWI, allows survivors to gather crucial information and report incidents at their own pace. The "Seek" feature helps users locate medical care and supportive services, while "Speak" offers a self-guided interview for survivors aged 18 and older. This interview gathers essential information and educates users about their rights and the reporting process. Once completed, the interview generates a PDF, which survivors can save or submit to law enforcement if they choose to report.

SPD emphasizes that this resource is intended for situations where immediate law enforcement response is not required. The initiative enhances the support available to survivors and encourages them to engage with the reporting process. Seek Then Speak is part of a broader effort to provide resources and assistance to sexual assault survivors across the United States.
