SPD launches alternative reporting option for sexual assault survivors

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane Police Department has launched Seek Then Speak, an innovative reporting option for sexual assault survivors. This initiative allows survivors and their support people to privately gather vital information related to medical care and supportive services. For those aged 18 and older, the program features a self-guided interview that educates participants about their rights and the significance of the information collected. Once completed, survivors can save the generated PDF for their records or choose to submit it to law enforcement. This program aims to empower survivors by providing them with resources tailored to their needs within Spokane.

It is important to note that Seek Then Speak is designed for non-emergency situations, directing individuals in immediate danger to call 911. The introduction of this program highlights the SPD's commitment to supporting survivors and improving reporting processes. By expanding access to resources, SPD seeks to foster a more informed and empowered community of survivors.
