Guiding Future Climate Policy Community Survey Results

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Community Climate Policy Survey, open from July 21 to August 31, 2025, received over 1,400 responses, highlighting critical community concerns. Water, human health, and food systems emerged as the top priorities among respondents, reflecting a strong community focus on these issues. The survey identified eight key themes for future action, including pilot programs, water conservation, and urban green spaces. These findings build on earlier feedback from the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, confirming a consistent direction for the city's climate policies. The results will inform policy development and recommendations for the upcoming PlanSpokane 2046 Comprehensive Plan update.

The city encourages further community input through a workshop series scheduled for November. Participants can continue to engage on climate resilience topics and stay informed via the PlanSpokane newsletter. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that all community members benefit from climate and resiliency policies.
