Female in Custody After an Auto Dealership Has 16 Vehicles Vandalized

On September 19, SPD officers were dispatched to an auto dealership following reports of an argument that escalated into vandalism. Witnesses reported that one individual threw rocks at parked vehicles, damaging 16 cars and incurring an estimated repair cost of $100,000. Surveillance footage captured the incident, allowing officers to identify Katie L. Sims, 34, as the suspect. The following day, officers located Sims in downtown Spokane, still wearing the same clothes seen in the footage.

She was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Malicious Mischief. This incident highlights concerns regarding public safety and property damage in the Spokane area. The significant financial impact of the vandalism may prompt the dealership to enhance security measures. Local authorities continue to address such criminal activities to ensure community safety.
