Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane has announced delays in two significant construction projects affecting local traffic. The Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project will postpone work, leading to a lane reduction on southbound North Ash Street from September 22 to 24. This will result in significant slowdowns, with drivers advised to use alternative routes to avoid peak traffic. Concurrently, Rockwood Boulevard will be closed to all traffic from September 15 to 17, impacting access to vital healthcare services near Sacred Heart Medical Center. This closure is due to necessary upgrades to the water, sewer, and stormwater systems.

Pedestrians may experience detours, but local access will remain available throughout the construction period. City officials encourage residents to plan ahead and adjust travel times accordingly to avoid congestion. Current obstruction details can be found on the city's construction webpage.
