Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City has delayed the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, which will impact traffic on N. Ash St. from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24.

The southbound lanes will merge from three lanes to one, likely causing congestion on adjacent routes like Northwest Blvd. During this time, Rockwood Blvd. will be completely closed from Sept. 15 to Sept. 17 for essential utility work, including upgrades to water and sewer systems.

The project also includes pavement rehabilitation and intersection redesign, with an expected completion date set for mid-October. Local access will remain open, but pedestrians may experience sidewalk detours. Residents are encouraged to use alternative routes and adjust travel times to avoid increased traffic volume during peak hours. City officials remind drivers to exercise caution and support local businesses affected by the construction. Current obstruction information can be found on the city's construction webpage.
