Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane announced delays in the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, which will affect traffic on southbound N. Ash St. from Sept. 22-24. Drivers will experience lane reductions, merging from three lanes to one, which is expected to cause significant congestion on nearby routes.

Simultaneously, Rockwood Blvd. will close to all traffic between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St. from Sept. 15-17 for essential upgrades to the water, sewer, and stormwater systems.

This project also includes pavement rehabilitation and redesign of the intersection at Rockwood Blvd. , Cowley St. , and 10th Ave. , with completion expected by mid-October. Local access to businesses and healthcare facilities will be maintained, and pedestrians may face sidewalk detours during this period.

To alleviate traffic issues, residents are advised to use alternative routes and adjust travel times between 7 a. m. and 7 p. m. Current obstruction information is available on the city’s construction webpage.

The city emphasizes the importance of safety and supporting local businesses impacted by the construction.
