Spokane City Council to Consider Day Change of Legislative Sessions

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane City Council proposes moving its legislative sessions from Mondays to a new day to reduce cancellations caused by federal holidays. Stakeholders have expressed a desire for increased engagement, prompting the need for community input. A public survey is currently open for residents to share their preferences, with a closing date of September 21, 2025. The results will be discussed during the Finance and Administration Committee meeting on September 22, guiding the council's decision-making. A first reading of the proposed resolution will take place on October 6, with a final reading on October 20.

If the council approves the change, it will be implemented in August 2026. This initiative aims to enhance the legislative process and address community concerns. The council previously deferred the discussion to allow time for public feedback.
