Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's City officials announce delays in the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, which will cause significant traffic slowdowns on southbound Ash Street from Sept. 22 to 24. During this period, the southbound lanes will reduce from three to one, likely leading to congestion on Northwest Boulevard and Ash Street. Concurrently, Rockwood Boulevard will close to all traffic between Grand Boulevard and Cowley Street from Sept. 15 to 17 for essential construction work on water, sewer, and stormwater systems.

This project, located near Sacred Heart Medical Center, also involves pavement rehabilitation and intersection redesign, expected to be completed by mid-October. Local access will be maintained throughout the closures, but pedestrians may face sidewalk detours. Residents are encouraged to seek alternative routes and adjust travel schedules to avoid peak traffic hours. Current obstruction information is available on the city’s construction webpage. The city urges drivers to slow down for safety and support businesses affected by the construction.
