Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane city government announced delays in the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, resulting in lane reductions on North Ash Street from September 22 to 24. Southbound traffic will merge from three lanes to one lane between Augusta Avenue and Maxwell Avenue, with local access maintained. Officials anticipate that this lane reduction will cause congestion on Northwest Boulevard and southbound Ash Street. Rockwood Boulevard will close to all traffic from September 15 to 17 for extensive work on the water, sewer, and stormwater systems. This construction, located near Sacred Heart Medical Center, includes pavement rehabilitation and intersection redesign.

Local access will be maintained, but pedestrians may face sidewalk detours. City officials recommend using alternative routes and adjusting travel times to avoid peak congestion. The construction is expected to conclude by mid-October, with ongoing updates available on the city’s construction webpage.
