Spokane City Council to Consider Day Change of Legislative Sessions

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Council is reviewing its Monday legislative sessions due to frequent cancellations linked to federal holidays and requests for more engagement from stakeholders. A public survey is currently open to residents, designed to collect feedback on the proposed change. The survey will close at midnight on September 21, and the results will be presented at the Finance and Administration Committee meeting on September 22, 2025. A first reading of the resolution is scheduled for October 6, 2025, with a final reading planned for October 20. Ordinance C36738 remains open-ended regarding the new meeting day, reflecting the council's commitment to community input.

If the council approves the change, it will take effect in August 2026. This decision follows a formal discussion about the meeting day that began last year. The council aims to ensure the new schedule aligns with community needs and preferences.
