Spokane detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are investigating a felony assault that occurred on September 17, leaving a male victim severely burned. The incident took place near the Browne Street viaduct at approximately 3 p. m. , where witnesses observed a male suspect douse the victim with gasoline and set him on fire before fleeing the scene. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, and he was subsequently airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for specialized treatment.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect and victim were acquainted, reducing public safety concerns. The suspect is described as a male wearing baggy jeans, without a shirt, and possibly carrying a tan backpack. Detectives are actively pursuing leads in the case and are asking the community for assistance.
