Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane officials announced delays in the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, affecting traffic on southbound Ash Street from September 22-24. This work will reduce lanes from three to one, causing significant congestion. Rockwood Boulevard will also close to all traffic from September 15-17 for critical infrastructure work, including water, sewer, and stormwater system upgrades. The project aims to rehabilitate pavement and redesign the intersection at Rockwood Boulevard, Cowley Street, and 10th Avenue, with completion expected by mid-October. Pedestrian traffic may face detours, although local access remains available.

Drivers should consider alternative routes and adjust their travel times to avoid peak congestion from 7 a. m. to 7 p. m. Current obstruction information is available on the city's construction webpage.

City officials emphasize the importance of safety and supporting local businesses during construction.
