Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's City Council has postponed the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, affecting traffic on North Ash Street from September 22 to 24. During this time, southbound lanes will merge from three to one, causing significant slowdowns and congestion. In parallel, Rockwood Boulevard will close entirely from September 15 to 17 for crucial work on water, sewer, and stormwater systems. This section of the street is located near Sacred Heart Medical Center and will also undergo pavement rehabilitation. Local access will be maintained, but pedestrians may face sidewalk detours.

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes during peak traffic hours to minimize delays. The city emphasizes the importance of safety and supporting local businesses impacted by the construction. Current obstruction information is available on the city's construction webpage.
