Spokane City Council to Consider Day Change of Legislative Sessions

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Council is considering moving its legislative sessions from Mondays to accommodate frequent cancellations due to federal holidays and enhance public engagement. To collect resident feedback, the council launched a community survey that will remain open until September 21, 2025. The results of this survey will be discussed at the Finance and Administration Committee meeting on September 22, 2025. A first reading of the proposed change will take place on October 6, 2025, followed by a final reading and discussion on October 20. If the council approves the change, it will be implemented in August 2026.

This discussion originated last year when the council deferred action to allow for community input. The potential change is linked to Ordinance C36738, which currently does not specify a new meeting day. The council's efforts aim to better align its schedule with the needs and preferences of Spokane residents.
