Spokane City Council to Consider Day Change of Legislative Sessions

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane City Council is gathering community feedback on a proposed change to its legislative sessions, currently scheduled for Mondays, due to frequent cancellations linked to federal holidays. A public survey, open to Spokane residents until September 21, 2025, aims to capture community preferences on a new meeting day. This discussion began in 2024 when the council recognized the need for more stakeholder engagement. Results from the survey will be shared during the Finance and Administration Committee meeting on September 22, 2025. A first reading of the resolution is set for October 6, 2025, followed by a final reading and discussion on October 20.

If the council approves the change, it will be implemented in August 2026. Ordinance C36738 does not currently specify a new meeting day, pending public input. The council's actions reflect a commitment to enhance community engagement in local governance.
