Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project has been postponed, resulting in significant traffic impacts on southbound Ash St. from Sept. 22-24. The three lanes will merge into one, increasing congestion on Ash St. and eastbound Northwest Blvd.

Meanwhile, Rockwood Blvd. will close completely between Grand Blvd. and Cowley St. from Sept. 15-17 for crucial water, sewer, and stormwater system work.

This project, located near Sacred Heart Medical Center, also includes pavement rehabilitation and a redesign of the nearby intersection. Pedestrians may encounter sidewalk detours, but local access will be maintained throughout the construction periods. Drivers should consider alternative routes and adjust travel times to avoid peak congestion hours. The City advises residents to stay informed about traffic disruptions on their construction webpage. These upgrades aim to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.
