Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

North Ash Street will undergo significant lane reductions from three lanes to one between September 22-24 as part of the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project. This work aims to improve the City’s stormwater system and is expected to create substantial slowdowns for southbound drivers in the affected area. Concurrently, Rockwood Boulevard will be completely closed to traffic from September 15-17 for critical upgrades to water, sewer, and stormwater systems, impacting access near the Sacred Heart Medical Center. The project also includes pavement rehabilitation and redesign of the intersection at Rockwood Blvd. , Cowley St.

, and 10th Ave. , with completion anticipated in mid-October. Local traffic will be maintained, but pedestrians may experience sidewalk detours, emphasizing the importance of safety during construction. City officials recommend using alternative routes during peak traffic times to avoid congestion and suggest altering drive times if possible. These construction efforts are part of the City’s broader initiative to enhance infrastructure and ensure public safety.

Current obstruction information can be found on the City’s construction webpage.
