Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane officials have announced the postponement of the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, leading to significant traffic slowdowns on southbound Ash St. between Indiana Ave. and Maxwell Ave. from Sept. 22-24.

The southbound lanes will merge from three to one, likely causing congestion on nearby Northwest Blvd. and Ash St. Simultaneously, Rockwood Blvd. will be closed to all traffic from Sept. 15-17 for essential water, sewer, and stormwater system upgrades.

This closure affects the section of Rockwood Blvd. just south of Sacred Heart Medical Center, with local access maintained. Pedestrians may experience detours, and drivers should consider alternative routes or adjust travel times to avoid peak congestion. The construction work is expected to improve infrastructure and public safety in the area. Spokane's efforts reflect a commitment to maintaining and enhancing city roadways.

Officials encourage residents to support local businesses impacted by the construction.
