Spokane City Council to Consider Day Change of Legislative Sessions

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane City Council is exploring a change to its legislative session schedule, potentially moving meetings from Mondays. This consideration arises from frequent cancellations due to federal holidays and requests from stakeholders for greater engagement opportunities. To inform its decision, the council is conducting a survey open to Spokane residents until midnight on September 21. The results will be shared during the Finance and Administration Committee meeting on September 22, 2025. Ordinance C36738, which addresses the meeting schedule, does not currently designate a new day, leaving it blank for public input.

A first reading of the resolution will occur on October 6, 2025, followed by a final reading on October 20. If the council approves the change, it will be implemented in August 2026. This move reflects the council's commitment to engaging with the community and adapting to their needs.
