Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane has postponed the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project, leading to traffic disruptions on Southbound Ash Street from September 22 to September 24. The lane reduction from three to one is expected to cause significant slowdowns in the area. Concurrently, Rockwood Boulevard will be closed for construction from September 15 to September 17 for essential water, sewer, and stormwater work. This closure will affect traffic between Grand Boulevard and Cowley Street, requiring drivers to seek alternative routes. Sidewalk detours may impact pedestrians, although local access will remain open.

The project includes pavement rehabilitation and intersection redesign, with completion anticipated by mid-October. The city advises residents to alter their driving times or utilize remote work to alleviate traffic. Current obstruction information is available on the city’s construction webpage.
