Construction Project Changes

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane has announced significant traffic disruptions due to construction projects on North Ash Street and Rockwood Boulevard. From September 22 to 24, southbound Ash Street will be reduced to one lane, causing slowdowns between W. Indiana Ave. and W. Maxwell Ave.

This project focuses on enhancing bike and pedestrian safety and was initially scheduled to start on September 9. Additionally, Rockwood Boulevard will be closed to all traffic from September 15 to 17 to facilitate crucial upgrades to water, sewer, and stormwater systems. This section of Rockwood, located near Sacred Heart Medical Center, will undergo pavement rehabilitation and intersection redesign, set for completion by mid-October. Local access to affected areas will be maintained, but drivers and pedestrians should anticipate detours. Residents are encouraged to use alternative routes and adjust their travel times to avoid peak traffic.

The City emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses during these necessary construction efforts.
