Age of Elegance Reimagined Showcases Local Furnishers to Raise Funds for Historic Preservation of D.C. Corbin Mansion, September 6-20
Spokane's D. C. Corbin House, currently the Corbin Art Center, could secure critical preservation funds if voters approve a Parks & Recreation levy in November. The "Age of Elegance Reimagined" event runs from September 6 to 20, featuring local furniture displays and guided tours led by historian Cindy Blue-Blanton. Admission is set at $10, with all proceeds earmarked for restoration efforts, particularly the front veranda.
Visitors enjoy the flexibility of returning at any time during the event with their tickets. The Corbin Art Center, established over 50 years ago, offers affordable fine arts programs aimed at fostering creativity and personal growth among community members. The mansion, designed by architect Kirtland K. Cutter, has historical significance, having been donated to the city by D. C.
Corbin, a prominent figure in the railroad and mining industries. Donations can be made through the Spokane Parks Foundation to further support the facility's preservation. The outcome of the upcoming levy vote will be crucial for the ongoing maintenance and repair of this historic site.
