Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested for Multiple Felonies

Spokane Police arrested Carlos Barrios, 31, on multiple felony charges related to domestic violence after a standoff on August 31, 2025. Officers arrived at the scene in the 7000 block of north Wiscomb after receiving a call that Barrios was holding a victim against their will, violating a protection order. Police made entry to safely remove the victim but encountered resistance from Barrios, who retreated to the basement. Efforts by the Hostage Negotiation Team to communicate with him were unsuccessful, prompting the use of a drone to locate him. After deploying chemical agents, Barrios emerged from the basement armed with several weapons and was taken into custody by SWAT officers shortly after 2:00 PM.

He faces charges including 1st degree Kidnapping DV, 2nd degree Assault DV, and Felony Domestic Violence Order of Protection Violation, along with additional charges for damaging a police drone. This incident highlights the serious nature of domestic violence and the complexities law enforcement faces in handling such standoffs. The community continues to grapple with the implications of domestic violence incidents and the necessary resources for prevention and intervention.
