Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Spokane firefighters were dispatched at 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, to a fire at 804 South Sherman Street, where a man was reported trapped inside. Upon arrival, they confirmed flames from the first floor spreading to the second story and attic. Firefighters conducted a search and found the unconscious adult male, removing him through a window in under four minutes.

The incident was escalated to a second alarm, and the victim was rushed to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in 20 minutes, but the damage rendered the duplex uninhabitable. No other injuries were reported, and the fire's cause is currently under investigation. Firefighters continued to monitor the site for potential hotspots. This incident underscores the dangers of residential fires and the critical need for timely emergency response.
