Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Firefighters rescued an unconscious adult male from a duplex fire at 804 South Sherman Street in Spokane on Monday morning. They received the dispatch at 10:39 a. m. , with reports of flames visible from the front of the home and concerns about a resident being trapped inside. Engine 1 arrived within four minutes and confirmed that the fire had spread from the first floor to the attic.

Firefighters conducted a search while simultaneously attacking the flames, locating the victim on the first floor. They extricated him through a window in less than four minutes and upgraded the incident to a second alarm. The victim was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition, while firefighters managed to control the fire within 20 minutes. Damage to the structure was extensive, rendering it uninhabitable, but no additional injuries were reported. Firefighters remained on-site to address hotspots and monitor the situation until it was fully contained.
