Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

At approximately 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, Spokane firefighters were dispatched to a duplex fire at 804 South Sherman Street. Upon arrival, they confirmed flames originating from the first floor and extending to the attic, prompting an urgent rescue operation. Firefighters located an unconscious adult male on the first floor and rescued him less than four minutes after arriving on the scene.

He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, but the damage to the structure was extensive, leaving it uninhabitable. Firefighters will remain at the site for several hours to extinguish any remaining hotspots. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no other injuries were reported at the scene. This incident highlights the dangers of residential fires and the critical role of first responders in emergency situations.
