Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

At 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, firefighters were dispatched to a fire at 804 South Sherman Street in Spokane. Engine 1 arrived four minutes later and confirmed flames visible from the first floor. Firefighters immediately began searching the structure and found an unconscious male on the first floor, quickly rescuing him within four minutes.

He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The fire was controlled within 20 minutes, but the cause is still under investigation. Damages to the duplex are extensive, rendering it uninhabitable, and firefighters will remain on scene to extinguish hotspots. No other injuries were reported during the incident. The rapid response underscores the importance of fire safety in residential areas.
