Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Spokane firefighters were dispatched at 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, to a house fire at 804 South Sherman Street. Upon arrival, Engine 1 confirmed flames consuming the first floor and spreading to the second story and attic of the two-story duplex. Firefighters initiated a search and rescue operation, locating an unconscious adult male on the first floor.

They removed him from the home in less than four minutes and transported him to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The fire was declared under control within 20 minutes, but extensive damage left the residence uninhabitable. Firefighters remained on scene to extinguish any remaining hotspots. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no additional injuries were reported. This incident highlights the ongoing risks associated with residential fires in the Spokane area.
