Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Firefighters were dispatched to a duplex fire at 804 South Sherman Street in Spokane at 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025, following reports of flames and a possible trapped resident. Engine 1 arrived four minutes later and confirmed fire from the first floor extending to the attic. Quick action by firefighters led to the discovery of an unconscious adult male, who they removed through a window in under four minutes.

The victim was rushed to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. Firefighters controlled the blaze within 20 minutes, but the damage was extensive, making the residence uninhabitable. No other injuries were reported during the incident. Firefighters remained on the scene to extinguish hotspots while the fire's cause is under investigation. This incident highlights the dangers of residential fires and the critical response efforts by local fire services.
