Construction Project Will Impact W. Maxwell Starting Monday

Spokane, WALocal News

W. Maxwell Ave. will close from August 25 to September 19 for traffic signal upgrades as part of the Maxwell Pettet to Walnut Bike/Pedestrian project. This initiative aims to enhance bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, including new sidewalks, bike lanes, and crosswalk improvements. It will better connect the West Central Neighborhood with AM Cannon Park and the Centennial Trail.

Local businesses affected by the construction will benefit from community support during this period. Motorists on Pettet Dr. will be detoured, while lane reductions on intersecting streets may cause delays. The Washington State Pedestrian/Bike Program, Arterial Street Fund, and Washington Climate Commitment Act fund the project. Current obstruction information is available on the city's construction webpage.

A construction and detour map is accessible in PDF format for further guidance.
