Downtown Arson Suspect in Custody

Spokane police arrested Troy A. Silk, 45, for three counts of second-degree arson following a series of fires in the downtown area on August 21, 2025. The fires damaged properties in the 400 block of West Main, West Riverside, and the 300 block of West Spokane Falls Boulevard. Patrol officers worked to secure evidence, which helped identify Silk as a person of interest. Major Crimes Unit Detectives subsequently obtained video footage from surrounding businesses that confirmed his involvement, leading to his arrest on August 22.

Silk was already in custody on unrelated charges when police connected him to the arson. The Spokane Police Department emphasizes the importance of community vigilance in preventing arson and similar crimes. This incident has raised concerns about urban safety and the need for effective crime prevention strategies.
