Construction Project Will Impact W. Maxwell Starting Monday

W. Maxwell Ave. will close from August 25 to September 19 as part of a traffic signal upgrade project associated with the Maxwell Pettet to Walnut Bike/Pedestrian initiative. This project enhances bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, adding new sidewalks, bike lanes, and improved crosswalks to better connect the West Central Neighborhood with local parks and trails. Northbound Maple St.

and southbound Ash St. will remain open at intersections with Maxwell Ave. , but motorists should expect lane reductions and slowdowns. Eastbound traffic on Pettet Dr. will be detoured at Belt St.

to Indiana St. , while westbound traffic on W. Maxwell Ave. will face detours at Monroe St. Local access will be maintained during non-working hours, but pedestrians may experience sidewalk detours.

The project is funded through the Washington State Pedestrian/Bike Program and other local funds, reflecting a commitment to enhancing community infrastructure.
