Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Spokane firefighters responded to a house fire at 804 South Sherman Street at 10:39 a. m. on August 25, 2025. Dispatchers alerted them to the likelihood of a male resident trapped inside the two-story duplex. Arriving units confirmed flames on the first floor, which had spread to the upper levels.

Firefighters quickly located the unconscious victim and removed him through a window, transporting him to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The incident was escalated to a second alarm, and firefighters controlled the fire within 20 minutes. Investigators are currently looking into the fire's cause, while the damages have rendered the home uninhabitable. No additional injuries were reported at the scene. Firefighters will remain on-site for several hours to extinguish any remaining hotspots.
