Downtown Arson Suspect in Custody

Spokane police arrested Troy A. Silk, 45, for three counts of second-degree arson following a series of fires set in downtown Spokane on August 21, 2025. The intentionally set fires affected properties on West Main, West Riverside, and Spokane Falls Boulevard. Patrol officers worked quickly to gather evidence, which led to identifying Silk as a person of interest. Major Crimes Unit Detectives secured video footage from surrounding businesses, resulting in Silk's arrest on August 22.

At the time, Silk was already in custody at Spokane County Jail for unrelated offenses. The Spokane fire department reported that the arson incidents caused significant property damage and posed risks to public safety. Local authorities are urging residents to report suspicious activities to prevent further incidents. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges of crime in urban areas and the importance of community involvement in safety efforts.
