Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Firefighters in Spokane rescued an unconscious man from a house fire at 804 South Sherman Street at 10:39 a. m. on Monday. Dispatchers informed responding crews of a high probability that an adult male was trapped inside the two-story duplex. Engine 1 arrived four minutes later to find flames on the first floor extending to the second story and attic.

Firefighters quickly searched the structure, locating the victim on the first floor and removing him within four minutes. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition, while the incident was upgraded to a second alarm due to the severity of the fire. Firefighters managed to control the blaze within 20 minutes, but the extensive damage left the building uninhabitable. No other injuries were reported, and crews remained on the scene to extinguish hotspots. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
