Downtown Arson Suspect in Custody

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane police arrested Troy A. Silk, 45, on August 22, 2025, for three counts of second-degree arson following a series of intentionally set fires in downtown Spokane. The fires, which occurred in the 400 block of West Main, 400 block of West Riverside, and the 300 block of West Spokane Falls Boulevard, caused significant damage to multiple properties. Officers worked diligently to secure evidence and obtained critical video footage from nearby businesses, which led to Silk being identified as a person of interest. At the time of his arrest, Silk was already in custody at the Spokane County Jail for unrelated crimes, raising concerns about the potential for repeat offenses.

The Spokane Police Department urges the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to enhance public safety. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in addressing arson and protecting community property. Additionally, the police continue to collaborate with local businesses to improve surveillance and security measures in the downtown corridor. Authorities encourage citizens to utilize non-emergency reporting services for any suspicious activities.
