Man Rescued in House Fire, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

Spokane firefighters were dispatched at 10:39 a. m. to 804 South Sherman Street after reports of flames at the duplex. Upon arrival, they confirmed fire extending from the first floor into the second and attic. Dispatchers indicated a high probability of an adult male resident being trapped inside, prompting an upgrade to a second alarm.

Firefighters located the unconscious victim and removed him through a window within four minutes. He was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in critical condition. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, but extensive damage rendered the home uninhabitable. Firefighters will remain on the scene to extinguish any hotspots. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
